Bank of India was founded on 7th September, 1906 by a group of eminent businessmen from Mumbai, India. The Bank was under private ownership and control till July 1969 when it was nationalized along with 13 other banks. Presently Bank has overseas presence in 22 foreign countries spread over 5 continents.

The Bank was formally registered under the Indian Companies Act, on 16 September 1935. Prof. V. G. Kale was the first chairman of this bank. It has a customer base of more than 18 million and its head office in Pune, Maharashtra. The Bank now has a Pan India presence with a branch network of 1890 branches spread across all States & Union territories.

Canara Bank was founded by Shri Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, a great visionary and philanthropist, in July 1906, at Mangalore, a port town in Karnataka. The Bank was nationalized in 1969 and now it has completed a century of its establishment and operations in the Indian banking industry in June 2006. Canara Bank occupies a premier position in the comity of Indian banks. The Bank has been scaling up its market position to emerge as a major Financial Conglomerate with as many as nine subsidiaries/sponsored institutions/joint ventures in India and abroad.

The Catholic Syrian Bank Limited was founded on 26th November 1920. Its headquarters is in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India. The founder directors of the bank were people of eminence known for their foresight, integrity and initiative. In August 1969, the Bank was included in the Second Schedule to the Reserve Bank of India Act 1934.

Central Bank of India is a government-owned bank with its corporate office in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was established in 1911 and is considered to be one of the oldest and largest commercial banks in India. Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala was the founder of the Bank and Sir Pherozesha Mehta was the first Chairman. It was the first Indian commercial bank which was wholly owned and managed by Indians. The bank was nationalized in the year 1969.

City Union Bank was incorporated as a limited company on 31st October, 1904 in Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. During its establishment it was named as ‘'The Kumbakonam Bank Limited’. The bank in the beginning preferred the role of a regional bank and slowly but steadily built for itself a place in the Delta District Thanjavur. The first Branch of the Bank was opened at Mannargudi on 24th January 1930. The Bank was included in the Second Schedule of Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, on 22nd March 1945.

The Bank came into being with the name Canara Banking Corporation (Udipi) Limited, on 12th March, 1906, in the temple town of Udupi, by the pioneering efforts of a group of visionaries. In 1939, the Bank’s name changed from Canara Banking Corporation (Udipi) Ltd. to Canara Banking Corporation Ltd. The second change in the name of the Bank occurred in 1972, from Canara Banking Corporation Ltd. to Corporation Bank Limited. And finally Corporation Bank following its nationalization on 15th April, 1980. The bank is among prominent public sector bank with its headquarter in Mangalore, India.

Dena Bank was founded o­n 26th May, 1938 by the family of Devkaran Nanjee under the name Devkaran Nanjee Banking Company Ltd. It became a Public Ltd Company in December 1939 and later the name was changed to Dena Bank Ltd. In July 1969 Dena Bank Ltd was nationalized and is now a Public Sector Bank constituted under the Banking Companies Act, 1970.

Federal Bank Limited is a major Indian commercial bank in the private sector headquartered at Aluva, Kerala, India. In the initial stages, it was known as the Travancore Federal Bank. Later on it gradually transformed into a full-fledged bank under the leadership of its Founder, Mr. K P Hormis. The name Federal Bank Limited was officially announced in the year 1947 with its headquarters nestled on the banks of the river Periyar.

HDFC (Housing Development Finance Corporation) Bank Limited is an Indian banking and financial services company. The bank was amongst the first to receive an ‘in principle’ approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up a bank in the private sector, as part of RBI’s liberalization of the Indian Banking Industry in 1994. The bank was incorporated in August 1994 in the name of ‘HDFC Bank Limited’, with its registered office in Mumbai, India.

The antecedents of the HSBC Group in India can be traced back to October 1853 when the Mercantile Bank of India, London and China was founded in Bombay (now Mumbai). The acquisition of Mercantile Bank in 1959 by The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited was a decisive factor in laying the foundation for today's HSBC Group. After the Mercantile Bank was acquired by The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, the Flora Fountain building became and remains to this day, the Head Office of the HSBC Group in India.

IDBI (Industrial Development bank of India) was constituted under Industrial Development bank of India Act, 1964 as a Development Financial Institution and came into being as on July 01, 1964. It was regarded as a Public Financial Institution in terms of the provisions of Section 4A of the Companies Act, 1956. It continued to serve as a DFI for 40 years till the year 2004 when it was transformed into a Bank.

Indian Bank was established on 15th August 1907 as part of the Swadeshi movement and was nationalized by Government of India on 19 July 1969. The bank has overseas presence with branches in Singapore , Colombo including a Foreign Currency Banking Unit at Colombo and Jaffna.

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) was founded on February 10th 1937, by Shri M.Ct.M. Chidambaram Chettyar. It was one of the 14 major banks that was nationalized in 1969. On the eve of Nationalization in 1969, IOB had 195 branches in India. IOB had the distinction of being the first Bank in Banking Industry to obtain ISO 9001 Certification for its Computer Policy and Planning Department from Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Netherlands in September 1999. This Certification covers Design, Development, Implementation and Maintenance of software developed in-house, procurement and supply of hardware and execution of turnkey projects. IOB bagged the NABARD's award for credit linking the highest number of Self Help Groups for 2000-2001 among the Banks in Tamil Nadu.

IndusInd Bank Commenced its operations in the year 1994. Mr. Srichand P. Hinduja, a leading NRI businessman and head of the Hinduja Group, conceived the vision of IndusInd Bank. The Bank was formally inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the then Finance Minister of India. It started with a capital base of INR 1,000 million, which was contributed by Indian residents as well as NRIs. IndusInd Bank derives its name and inspiration from the Indus Valley Civilization - a culture described as one of the greatest in the ancient world.

Established in 1930, in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka with the name Vysya Bank. Initially, the bank concentrated on serving the Vysya community. In 1958, the bank was licensed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to expand its banking operations nationwide. In 1995, Vysya Bank entered into a long-term strategic alliance with Belgian bank. Vysya Bank formally merged with ING Group in year 2002 and got the name ING Vysya Bank. On 20 November 2014, in an all stock amalgamation, ING Vysya Bank decided to merge with Kotak Mahindra Bank. On 1 April 2015, the Reserve Bank of India approved the merger, after which the combined entity will bear the name Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Karnataka Bank Limited, a leading 'A' Class Scheduled Commercial Bank in India, was incorporated on February 18th, 1924 at Mangaluru, a coastal town of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka State. Karur Vysya Bank is a private-sector Indian bank, head quartered in Karur, Tamil Nadu. The bank was founded in 1916 by two great visionaries and illustrious sons of Karur, the Late Shri M A Venkatarama Chettiar and the Late Shri Athi Krishna Chettiar to inculcate the habit of savings and provide financial assistance to traders and small agriculturists in and around Karur, a textile town in Tamil Nadu. Performance of the bank has been consistently recognized by leading publications and other organizations.

In 1985, Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. commences bill discounting business after which it entered lease and hire purchase business. In 1995, it entered into a joint venture with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. for investment banking incorporation of Kotak Mahindra Capital Company. In February 2003, Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. (KMFL), the Groups flagship company, received a banking licence from the Reserve Bank of India. In 2006, Kotak Mahindra Bank buys out Goldman Sachs equity stake in Kotak Mahindra Capital Company and Kotak Securities Ltd. On 20 November 2014, in an all stock amalgamation, ING Vysya Bank decided to merge with Kotak Mahindra Bank after which on April 1st 2015, the Reserve Bank of India approved the merger. Now the combined entity of both the banks (ING Vysya and Kotak) will bear the name Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Lakshmi Vilas Bank was founded in 1926 by a group of seven progressive businessmen of Karur under the leadership of Shri V.S.N. Ramalinga Chettiar. The bank obtained its banking license from RBI on 19th June 1958, and on 11th August 1958 it became a Scheduled Commercial Bank signifying capability to operate as a full-fledged commercial bank. In 1974, the bank started expanding the branch network beyond Tamil Nadu to benefit from opportunities in the pan-Indian market. Currently, the bank has witnessed substantial improvement across all business parameters and is spread over a network of more than 405 branches with PAN India presence, supervised by 11 Regional Offices.

Rai Bahadur Lala Sohan Lal founded Oriental Bank of Commerce in 1943 in Lahore. During India Pakistan partition, the bank closed all its branches in Pakistan and shifted its registered office from Lahore to Amritsar. The bank was nationalised on 15 April 1980. Now the bank offers a wide range of banking products and services such as deposit accounts, loans, debit cards, credit cards, Insurance products, ATMs, Internet banking, Mobile Banking, etc.
